In 1983, Mr Agrawal founded a VHS video cassette manufacturing facility with a visionary investment of Rs 1 million. This venture marked the nascent stages of the industry's growth, characterised by rampant software piracy. However, Sushil Kumar's foresight in technology-driven entertainment production, distribution, and consumption laid the foundation for his future successes.

Game-Changer - 'Maine Pyaar Kiya'

One of the pivotal moments in Sushil Kumar's career was the acquisition of video cassette rights for the hit film 'Maine Pyaar Kiya' in 1989. This strategic move revolutionised the industry, showing that movies could have a long shelf life post-theatrical release. 'Maine Pyaar Kiya' became a cult success and a case study in the Indian film video and music cassette industry. Ultra continued to acquire rights to classic old and new films, building an enviable catalogue.

Venturing into Music

In 1993, Sushil Kumar ventured into the music domain, acquiring music rights and launching the "Ultra Series" music division. This strategic move led to the marketing of audio cassettes and cemented Ultra's position as a prominent name in India and abroad. The company not only secured a strong foothold in the video and music trade but also ventured into groundbreaking technologies, such as introducing Film VCD technology and pioneering the encoding and authoring of VCD & MPEG technology in India.

Sushil Kumar's venture, Mintage World, operates as the world's first online museum for vintage and new coins, stamps, and currency notes. This initiative aims to reintroduce the joy of collecting these artefacts to the modern world while preserving historical heritage and knowledge.

Sushil Kumar sees a promising future for OTT platforms in India. With a diverse range of content, regional expansion, and profitability in both subscription-based (SVOD) and advertising-based (AVOD) formats, the OTT sector continues to thrive. Ultra Jhakaas, an exclusive Marathi OTT platform, has gained recognition for its diverse content offerings. With over 2000 hours of content, including Hollywood blockbusters dubbed in Marathi, it has attracted over 70,000 downloads and 35,000 monthly active users.
