Ultra Media showcases restored Guru Dutt classics, new animation, and expands global licensing at Cannes 2025

Ultra Media & Entertainment Group has showcased an expansive lineup at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, featuring over 2,500 films, 17,500+ TV episodes, and 4,000+ minutes of animation across genres. As part of its Cannes showcase, the company also announced the International Integration Rights for its newly launched OTT apps—Ultra Play, Ultra Gaane, and Ultra Jhakaas—focused on curated Indian content for a global audience.

In a special tribute to mark Guru Dutt’s 100th birth anniversary, Ultra unveiled restored versions of his iconic films including PyaasaKaagaz Ke PhoolChaudhvin Ka Chand, and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam. These classics have undergone meticulous 4K/2K frame-by-frame restoration using software like Diamant, PF Clean, and Revival.

This year, Ultra is also hosting industry meetings at Cannes to explore licensing partnerships, co-productions, restoration collaborations, and digital integrations, reinforcing its role as a cultural and commercial bridge between India and the global entertainment ecosystem.

Rajat Agrawal, COO & Director, Ultra Media & Entertainment Group, participated as a panellist at the Indian Pavilion, discussing the changing paradigm of film screening, from theatres to OTT platforms and digital-first formats.

He added, “We have also colourised Indian classics like Chori ChoriPaigham, and Insaniyat (the only film starring Dev Anand and Dilip Kumar together), using our proprietary technology.”

As part of Guru Dutt@100, Ultra will lead a month-long tribute across India in July 2025, featuring special screenings, exhibitions, and panel discussions to engage new audiences with Guru Dutt’s timeless work.
